Geomatics & Geospatial
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) provide a means for managing all of this geographic data generated by geospatial technologies such as Remote Sensing. The union of the two disciplines has enabled us to conduct large-scale examinations of the Earth’s surface and, at the same time, to give ever-more-detailed information on several planetary variables and enhance our comprehension of its operation. These assessments are vital for making decisions on the sustainable management of natural resources, the design of networks of protected areas, and the mitigation of global change hazards.
