About Geomatika

With a focus on land surveying, University Geomatika Malaysia (UGM) began as a vocational center in 2000. Given the rising demand for this type of specialization, Geomatika University Malaysia applied for college status and was granted permission by the Ministry of Education.

Due to the high demand, UGM Melaka formed its Department of Geospatial and Land Development and introduced the Certificate in Land Assistantship Surveying as well as the Centre of GIS (CeGIS) Short Courses Program in Geospatial Technology.

In keeping with Malaysia’s goal of becoming a developed country by 2020, UGM has matched its initiatives with The National Transformational Program (NTP) under the NKEA as part of the country’s tertiary education ecosystem. The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) granted GUC the status of a full university college in 2014.

So far, the Geomatika Educational Group includes satellite campuses in Kota Kinabalu, Keningau, and Kuching. Within three years, we intend to open further satellite campuses in Malaysia and other countries. Both domestic and foreign students will receive great tertiary education from UGM.

Campus Development

To assist 21st-century learning, Geomatika periodically upgrades its infrastructure to improve their students’ educational experience. This is the infrastructure upgrade plan for the University of Geomatika Malaysia campus, which will be implemented in three parts. The ID planning and 3D modeling were completed by their own Faculty of Environmental Design, while the outside proposal was created by a licensed architecture company.

English Preparation Center

English Preparatory Centre provides intensive, progressive, and individualized English language education to all students and potential students at all proficiency levels.

The English Preparatory Centre focuses on the intense development of listening, speaking, reading, writing, pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar skills that students and individuals require to communicate clearly and successfully in academic settings and beyond.

In addition, the English Preparation Centre helps Foreign Students satisfy the English proficiency standard necessary before attending academic programs by providing related preparatory classes. Local students can also participate in any of the English Preparation Center’s programs to strengthen their communication skills or writing in order to meet the market need for English requirements.

Geomatika Scholarship

Yayasan Geomatika is a foundation that was founded to assist students and potential students in furthering their education at any of the Geomatika Education Group’s institutions. It is controlled by the Trustees (Incorporation) Act 1952, Section 258, and is registered under the number PPAB-03/2013.

Clubs and Activities

Students at Geomatika University College in Malaysia are urged to look for a well-rounded educational experience that will allow them to further strengthen their interpersonal and communication skills while learning about other cultures. Students can participate in extracurricular activities such as camping, mountain climbing, futsal, and bowling through groups and societies such as the Debating Club, Theatre Club, Entrepreneurship Club, and Go Holiday Club. Students are also encouraged to get involved in community service and extracurricular activities.

Awards and Recognitions

As an organization or institution, University Geomatika Malaysia (UGM) has received a number of awards and honors from different authorities and organizations since its founding. They feel that celebrating accomplishment is crucial; nevertheless, to inspire more success, it is necessary to raise the bar each time they achieve something.

E50 Awards – 2013, 2014

In 2013 and 2014, Geomatika Edugroup Sdn Bhd won the E50 Awards for two consecutive years. The awards had 1798 participants, but only the top 50 were selected based on significant financial and non-financial criteria. Malaysia’s Deloitte conducted the screening and assessment procedure.

SCORE

SME Competitiveness Rating for Enhancement (SCORE) is a diagnostic instrument used to assess and improve the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) based on their performance and capabilities. SCORE has also been used as a tool for connecting businesses for improved market access and as a preliminary indication for evaluating access to capital. The SCORE rating for Geomatika Edugroup Sdn Bhd is four stars out of five.

TERAS

Under TERAJU, TERAS consists of High-Performing Companies. As a TERAS member, Geomatika Edugroup Sdn Bhd has access to a variety of employee training and business assistance possibilities.

MyQUEST

MyQUEST is a tool for monitoring an institution’s quality based on student experience, infrastructure, program delivery, and accreditation. In its last MyQUEST rating, Geomatika received four stars for its college-level content. In 2019, GUC will participate in SETARA, the following rating instrument.

ISO9001 QMS

Since 2012, Geomatika University College has retained its ISO9001 QMS for Technical Programs Delivery certification. Internationally acknowledged, ISO is a Quality Management System. Standard operating procedures have been maintained by GUC to ensure excellent quality and customer satisfaction.

AWARD

In 2015, MOHE awarded Geomatika University College the Best International Students’ Office honor. They want to periodically raise the proportion of foreign students at GUC, which is now 20%.

Kuala Lumpur Mayor’s Tourism Awards 2017

Geomatika University College has been selected as one of the top three institutions in the Education Tourism category for the 2017 Kuala Lumpur Mayor’s Tourism Awards. This is due to GUC’s position in the heart of Kuala Lumpur and the university’s allure, as seen by the presence of more than 20% foreign students.
