About UIS
The integration of the Cambridge International Curriculum and the International Primary Curriculum at UCSI International School (UIS) throughout primary school creates the groundwork for secondary school and the demanding IGCSE exams. Their multicultural instructors are well-qualified to present the curriculum, and their makerspace, science laboratories, and studios provide kids with hands-on learning experiences.
As part of this evolutionary leap in educational demands, UCSI has been designated as Malaysia’s first Finnish Experience Flagship School, beginning in August 2021. To create a true 21st Century learning experience for all students, the school will introduce four new tech-based modules through this comprehensive partnership: Code School Finland, Eduten Playground, Grapho Game, and School Day. The incorporation of these courses is intended to instill skills in students such as coding, gamification, robotics, IT, communication, creativity, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence, preparing them for the ever-changing world of the twenty-first century.
In addition, UCSI has built The EdTech Centre, a one-stop technology and learning hub that allows students, instructors, parents, and the community to communicate on the rising relevance of 21st Century Skills. These abilities include, among others, creativity, cooperation, communication, and critical thinking, which are enhanced by utilizing developing digital technologies to expand the reach and effect of education. Enhance Learning with the Finnish Experience
Four initial options, Code School Finland, Eduten Playground, GraphoGame, and School Day, were selected after a comprehensive research to be deployed in their schools in the first phase. The solutions were selected to match their school’s curriculum and teaching philosophy. In accordance with the school’s Eight Critical Characteristics, these solutions not only help students achieve their academic objectives, but also develop vital transversal skills. For instance, Eduten Playground encourages kids to build personal responsibility via self-paced learning. Code School fosters the development of crucial technology skills via collaborative problem-based learning opportunities. School Day increases social-emotional development and builds interpersonal skills by allowing students to voice their ideas anonymously and by providing instructors with data to initiate key dialogues with kids. GraphoGame teaches children early reading skills while reinforcing the notion that learning should be enjoyable!
In later stages, further Finnish EdTech solutions will be presented and deployed to guarantee that students continue to have a personalized learning experience that is relevant, creative, and successful. This connection is further bolstered by the frequent sharing of best practices between Finnish and UCSI schools, as well as the professional development of our teachers in Finnish education approaches.
